ABOUT ROB

Robert Hussey's career has been in both the public and private sectors. Robert's work in the public sector includes a number of years working as a city manager. Robert has since worked in real estate for the last decade owning his own real estate brokerage and originating mortgages.
Robert was elected Alderman in Wentzville in 2014, 2016 and 2018, 2020 in Ward 1. And after a move, elected in 2023 to Ward 2. Robert has been blessed with approvals up to 82 percent of the vote.
Wentzville means "family" to Robert. It is where he, his children and grandchildren reside. This community has given him extraordinary opportunities to make a difference. Robert wants to return the blessings that have been given to him.
At an early age, Robert started working cutting grass in his neighborhood. So at a young age, he learned the value of a dollar, a strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity. Because of this, he believes the government ought not to be in the way of citizens and businesses trying to make a living.
Robert then took his firsthand experience to Lindenwood University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, Robert went to work in the public sector. While he worked for a local government, he obtained his Master's Degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. His Master's Degree is in Public Policy with an emphasis in Local Government Management.

He held management positions in local government before he left to follow his entrepreneurial spirit. Robert then opened his own real estate brokerage (The Expert Realty Company) and his own mortgage company (The Expert Mortgage Store), where he continues to work today and encourages his Realtors to also give back to the community.

LEADERSHIP
WHAT DOES LEADERSHIP MEAN TO YOU? As a small business owner, a father of five children and also as your alderman, I'm asked this question often. The below are few mottos I do my best to live by as your representative:

-
Treat others how you wish to be treated.
-
Do things right -- and by doing the right things, risk the consequences of not being liked.
-
Base decisions on the next generation, more than the next election.
-
Focus on the mission, vision and values as the benchmark for decisions.
-
Recognize that my responsibility is the pursuit of the greatest good for the entire community and not the satisfaction of any particular group’s agenda.
-
Make decisions based on facts, not feelings.
-
“It takes a smart man to know where he is stupid.” Have the wisdom to recognize that.
-
Value those who have the courage to tell me what they really think regardless on how it affects my feelings.
-
Listen sincerely to those who disagree to truly understand their perspective, recognizing that understanding other perspective makes for a better leader.
-
Embrace my responsibility to govern rather than to manage. Recognize that if I am doing a staff member’s job, I am not doing my job. However, appropriately exercise governance role of holding staff accountable.
-
Place a greater emphasis on solutions than on problems.
-
Understand that mutual trust is the foundation for everything, and that if I refuse to trust others they will be unable to trust me.
-
Protect the integrity of the process, even if I disagree with the outcome.
-
Do not treat someone as the enemy just because we disagree.
